Europress
Game company
Europress was formed by Derek Meakin in 1965 and initally began by publishing magazines and newspapers. In the 1980s, the company expanded into software publishing with Database Publications and Mandarin Software. The publishing business was purchased by IDG Media towards the end of 1994, who then sold the business to Hasbro Interactive in 1999. Hasbro Interactive then sold Europress to Infogrames a little over a year later along with all of Hasbro's brands. Ownership was shortly returned to the Meakin family, who continued to operate it for a little over a year before liquidating its assets. The rights to the Europress brand were then sold to Atari, Inc., who then sold the rights to Plaion in 2002.
