Kiwi 64 Kiwi 64 is a retro revival platformer. The game features a relaxed move set which is well optimized for keyboard and mouse play. Each environment is creative and unique, with some nods to retro games, including homages to Ocarina of Time. While clearly influenced by early 3D platformers, the game The game gets progressively more eerie, with skeleton set pieces that are seemingly lost to time, and waves of white noise quietly echoing through each level. As much as I enjoyed the game, the minimal moveset is more novel than compelling. I feel like its missing something. This really doesn't feel like something I would ever be compelled to play again, there's nothing to master. Still, it holds up as a linear experience, with neat bonuses at the end game (including a hidden level, which was the original demo for the game).

Vib-Ribbon presents a different vision for games, one of tightly knit experiences, one that puts cohesion and style at the forefront. Few games have achieved this level of minimalism, even among indie games. I wish there were 1,000 more PS1 games like this - tiny games with the freedom to experiment.
