Very aesthetic game thats a shortplayer. This doesnt look like it was released on the SNES exclusively and was for some kind of computer from the time. I dont think its nearly as hard as some people make it. Plenty of the arcade styled games and ports on the Genesis give it a run. To make the game more difficult in itself, youll have to avoid the powered up butterfly form since it destroys everything, is easy to obtain and all you have to not do is get hit a few times so that you dont lose it.

The first Bomberman was painful, but this here is better just off of less sluggish player movement and not having to bomb the entire map this time. Dying is extremely punishing though because its hard to recover powerups, and deep in the game you wont be able to get any back. The whole series has this problem -

This is as basic as it gets for a PSX RPG. Its pretty easy too and I dont see myself revisiting it ever. There is a hard mode patch out there, but the game is too repetitive in a few ways for me to ever look at it. I dont hate it, though.

This game has a really nice gimmick, a musical shmup shooter! Its cute and really charming, but thats where my positive comments stop. You progress in this game by shooting these music note collectables. Some times you have to hit a background piece to make them appear. However, a lot of the time especially later on, an enemy may pop out of this piece instead. Memorization will fix this, but it made me so discontent on the first playthrough that I dont want to play it again. That last level is just ew. If Im rating for the novelty and creativeness, its about a whole star higher. I think my opinion would be different if I had obtained this at the time of its release.

Metroid is such an elite franchise. This should absolutely be the standard of what separates a REMAKE from a remaster. Theres not much else you can do to improve upon the NES original than what is done here. Its familiar, yet has many new ideas it blends in so well. It has so much Super Metroid DNA in it that it in turn also makes this top tier for me. Some complain that this is too linear, but really the problem with the original was that it was way too not. I mean if you want an exploration Metroid, this probably isnt the one. Its mostly about that action. Additional ,I see that most of the other complaints about this game is either Mother Brain or the stealth segment. MB is a boss design from the NES so granted it isnt going to be a masterpiece (she also have a powerful projectile now), but it really wasnt that bad to where it took away from the experience for me at all. Yall mustve had 2 energy tanks or something. Complaints about the stealth section feel nitpicky to me, I think it was a nice change of pace that didnt even last that long for real. The ships layout is really boring once you get the suit, though, but again the rest is just so short it doesnt matter.

Some people actually say this is better the Genesis one, which is around middle of the road on its own. I cant say so. That vertical jungle level, the whole labyrinth zone which is even more atrocious than the original, and pretty much all the bosses brought forth a lot of frustration. The only levels I can say I like is Bridge Zone 1, Scrap Brain 2, and the Sky Base. I hate how the knockback Sonic receives in this game works, he gets flown farther than ever when he gets hit, and theres next to no recovery frames so thered a good chance youll die anyways. This game already emphasizes not getting hit at all, because all the bosses and three or so stages dont even have rings, which is fine but.. Im still giving it a 4/10 because I never want to touch it again, mainly because of that Labyrinth stage again, ew.

Introducing myself to the Shantae franchise now. In short, the overworld portions are meh or worse in some spots due to enemies taking a lot of hits especially in night time where youre better off just avoiding them. Theres also no map in the entire game which may be a negative. Pretty odd for a MV game, eh? Meanwhile, the labyrinths (essentially your usual Metroidvania dungeons) are otherwise where it shines the best. As a very late game on the console, like one of the very last official games released for it late, I didnt know it was even capable of some of the things found here. Its a pretty simple game with a transformation mechanic but seeing how the sequels are praised, I will await my time to play them and see how they did things better. (Hopefully.) Its near above average for me. (5.5 / 6.5 since I dont count .0s is the alternate rating.)

Simple arcade tennis that anyone can pick up, yet with a secretly high skill celling all at the same time. Its what makes it great. (And a lot of fundamentals in this feels a lot like real tennis. Positioning, how and when you hit the ball is crucial etc) A large slight to the later titles in this spinoff series is the special moves and things of that nature, it just really messes up the flow of everything and makes matches less memorable as a whole when you win or lose by an impossible shot. In Aces, you may get matches where people just build up their special meter in order to break all their opponents rackets rather than actually playing tennis to score. Theres a reason why its been called a '"secret fighting game" instead. (I havent played enough of that game to properly judge it, though.)

What if an action RPG was actually just a giant escort mission the whole way through with some puzzle solving to go with that? You get CIMA: The Enemy. It is a unique concept, but not one that is probably not going to hit with a lot of people. I am one of those people. Three major things that made me drop this: In this game you use pointers to direct escorted characters where to go. Thing is that they constantly get stuck on walls due to the dated pathfinding of this 2003 game, so you have to keep an eye on them a lot more than you are already supposed to. Since they all walk slowly, they get hit a lot so you find yourself constantly healing everyone especially the bigger your group gets. You do have a tag partner of your own who follows right behind you, but she herself is also a liability most of the time that attacks once every few seconds, and can also get stuck on walls. Secondly, combat is not fun. Enemies like to spawn on top of you a lot and there are basically no invulnerability frames. Most of the game youll be controlling Ark, who has a fairly short sword swing. The way he moves kind of makes it hard to be precise and keep your distance as you engage sometimes. I think I would be even be more content with this game if the partner Ivy instead took the lead, since she has a gun and therefore range when you briefly play as her, but alas. Bosses are pretty boring, some can just run into you with fast speed and its almost immediately game over due to the lack of frames as I said before. And finally, simple repetition. With little changes from level to level, it kind of reminds me a lot of a mobile phone game. Its around 10 hours long, no thank you. Some people have called this a hidden gem, I cannot share this sentiment.

Zelda inspired game that tries to incorporate its open world exploration alongside top down shooter and space shooter / shmup game play. I like the concept but the gameplay will probably get stale at a certain point for a lot of people. Theres only so much interesting things this kilobyte era cartridge can contain, you know. Usual NES stuff in that regard, recolored harder versions of previous enemies later on in the game and things of that nature. I enjoyed my playthrough enough though, especially since I spaced out my play time with this instead of playing it straight through everyday which probably would have led to some form of burn out. And like a lot of NES final bosses, the health on this one is absurd, the only major con to me really beyond the technical limitations of the time.

So much better than the first, in fact its probably one of the best in the scrolling shooter genre because it is much more kind to beginners of it. Theres this _not easy to beat but not completely hostile_ feeling of being possible to beat it. The number weapon system is very good, and almost all the shot types have their use somewhere. Has the potential to go 9/10, I definitely am willing to replay this more throughout the years.

Often said to be one of the best games on the Genisis, even up there with Sonic himself. I must say that its really bout it. Like a bunch of older arcade esque games like this, it gets way better and fun once you understand it and know whats about to happen. (Since there are a lot of points where you can get hit by something you cant possibly see coming on the first playthrough.) Also, the overall style has this charmingly cute cartoony aesthetic to it. Automatic bonuc points for that. Too bad the Sparkster sequels went for the 90s _cool n edgy_ aesthetic that makes it feel similar to Mega Man X or the American Sonic 1 boxart instead.

As someone else said, the real game begins when you start extra mode after beating the normal game in like 23 minutes. It turns from a literal baby game to a warzone. Seeing all the enemies go from being fairly simple and waddling around, all the way to being super aggressive and out for blood after switching modes was pretty funny. The only issues really is the gordos (one hit takes half your health) and the bosses. Anyways this isnt my first time playing this, but this is a really good start for the franchise even if Kirby doesnt have his signature copy abilities yet. Its better than I remembered it being, because I didnt play the extra mode before hand. This series doesnt get that difficult in a long time. And one thing that may add to that difficulty is the famed Gameboy slowdown in certain sections, but that couldnt be helped.

I went into this before even being aware of its widespread hatred, seeing as Im binge-playing the whole Castlevania series now. It is certainly warranted. I mean the framerate is so hilariously bad and Simon (?) is so slughish that you will have to input your attacks and movement about two whole seconds in advance, or youll get hit. And I get it, this released in the first year of gamings first handheld console, but they could have still waited to put this out you know. As with consoles up until around the PS3 / 360 era and if not the one after that, the first wave of games arent supposed to be amazing aside from clearly prioritized launch titles. I am not going to bother to finish this.

Finally got around to this. Nothing new I can say about this, its one of the best exploration games of all time, and is even bigger than Yume Nikki considering that it is a community effort that is still getting updated 15 years later. However, while playing I get the constant reminder that this game is indeed unfinished when I run more into dead ends - often denoted with the yellow _to add a warp here later_ signs, more than I find somewhere new to explore. its why I refuse to judge this game like it is a complete experience, its still basically in beta. It is absolutely capable of being 10/10 dont get me wrong, but I will withold that for the time being. Another thing I want to talk about is because a lot of developers are involved with making maps instead of just one, many people have said that Urotsukis (this games character) dreams lack connection and meaning unlike Madotsukis (YNs character) dreams as some sort of flaw with this game. But truthfully the brain is very complicated anyways, and can produce dreams that often make no sense or have no relation to anything. Perhaps Urotsuki is one of the people with this type of brain. I prefer that interpretation, because I feel like people depend on meaning way too much when they talk about video games, its kinda annoying lol. Now, the only way to definitively _complete_ this game by getting to its endings is to collect all 36 effects, special abilities Urotsuki can use to navigate and unlock new places in the dream world. I think it will seriously take any one person some months and good enough navigation of at least the near surface level of the dream world to get all of them legitimately, because thankfully you dont have to go deep into the game to any of them. A lot of them are just like 4 or less worlds to get to, some are even just a few steps from the entrance of a hub world. The reason why I used a guide to speed up the process, was because I was tired of running into dead ends where I didnt have the effect to continue exploring yet. I know some people may frown at that, but I prefer to explore uninterrupted. The game should not be over once you collect the effects, theres still a good chance that you have missed out on many spots considering how massive this game really is. I do like most of this games maps, I just wish some had more interesting things to see. A select few are large with just one copy and pasted object, and now you gotta find the one single unique object or pathway on the map to progress, spending several minutes on an honestly lazy map trying to do so. Also, the docks suck. Its like a connecting hub with 4 or more exits, but you can navigate it for like 10 minutes and still get nowhere. And as you may know, there is an online version of this game you can just go play with no problem right away in your browser. Setting up the .exe version of this game might be a hassle because its running on old RPG maker software, and the online game has a single player option. Its the easiest way to get to this game by far, but exploring with friends is probably really really fun, too bad I dont have em. Anyways Im not done with this yet and will continue to explore it on and off. (0.120)

6/12 My first (proper) horror point and click game. I felt like a dummy not being able to figure out some of those earlier puzzles, but was able to go at least while towards the end without any help. Is it improvement or a fluke? I dont know. (I suggest actual notetaking when playing games like this..) Anyways, its a great introspective into that point in history in THAT ONE island during martial law. Its convincing and sounds like a real story that could have very well happened. The moral the game is trying to tell is also delivered nicely, but I wont spoil these twists.

Ten Desires isnt really liked in comparison to a lot of other Touhou games, one reason probably being how irritating it is to get resources sometimes. 5/29 Its been almost 10 years since Ive touched an AC game, since number four back in 2014. I had completed all but Revalations and this first one up to that point, but I had fell behind for the following console generation. The series has changed so drastically since then, basically entering action RPG territory and becoming distant from its stealthy origins, at least thats what people say, and I see that there are indeed damage numbers and stuff now. I saw it fit to finally revisit this franchise by starting off this one, then perhaps replaying the others and then at some point completing revelations. Now yes, of course this is really repetitive, primitive in terms of what this series would become later, and the controls are really janky by modern standards.. Combat is quite dated too. but I still didnt mind my experience playing it. AC2 and Ezio had defined the series after this, so I think I would have hated this back then alongside all of you since that was also my first game into the series that I so loved. However, I must say that I think that the setting and time period is mostly what I like about this game really. Just seeing the setting of the crusades in a video game without it being an RTS or something, but open world action is a very rare sight. Its a very eventful era in history that oddly isnt as romanticized in fictional works like the world wars or what have you. (But obviously it isnt all the way forgotten, but as far as video games go it somewhat is.)

1cc 2023 / 5 /23 This one is definitely more fun on Hard than Normal and maybe lunatic too, but 1ccing those is for later in my shmup career, at the ver least the hard mode. Reimu feels even more sluggish in this one to me for some reason, so SakuyaAs homing is more feasible for me. Marisa is always too zoomy for me, but one day ill finally learn to play her in these games. Also those four bombs Sakuya has to start every life with, I mean the chance to 1cc just increases off of that and it's a little broken. Then theres the whole cherry point thing which is like a free bomb. Its easy to see why there are also people calling this the easiest Touhou game, mostly because of that. While TH8 had a extremely nice deathbomb window, and Touhou 10 had an exploitable bomb system.

Got my normal 1cc on 5 / 13 / 23. Unlike my TH8 1cc where I just barely got by with dozens of bombs, this run felt way more like an accomplishment, even if there was some avoidable deaths in there. Istill finished the game with 3 lives, so Im already moving somewhat up the shmup ladder. ('B-but, MoF is more generous with giving lives out.' Shut up!) Usually the runs were dictated by Ayas randomness or all the sudden chocking Sanae when shes one of the easiest stage 5 bosses in the series, so I just stopped being stubborn and started bombing spells I know had a very low success rate. Bombing after all is really how you win at Touhou, and in fact in this one in particular, you might just get rewarded for bombing if you do it at the right times so you fan get your lost power right back. Thats why many call this the easiest Touhou, but I doubt it really is for newer players even with the mechanic.

Haha, so I remember when the first Freedom Planet came out way back in 2014 and me playing it just a few months later. It took a little bit to grow on me as I was playing it, but it was a good enough play back then you know. And then I just forgot about it. A sequel was then announced around 2017. I saw that trailer then too, but I wasnt terribly interested because I did not think it would really improve from the first game that much anyways. It already had a big reputation for being too similar to Sonic and Mania just dropped, so. But, this sequel here didnt even come out until 2022! If theres one thing that this game and my recent play in OMORI has proved lately, is that if an indie game is stuck several years in the development hell oven, you shut up and let that game cook! This literally improves upon everything in the first game, and its one of the more enjoyable platformers Ive played in a long time. Some of the level design ideas in here are actually really good. There is four playable characters, but over time i will complete playthrpughs as them too. Lilac is the most sound choice, but Milla is really fun to play as. By the way, pixel art has got to be top tier, and the voice acting, which is something I usually dont care about had some passion put into it a lot of the time. I was wondering why this was so slept on considering that well made indie games usually get the wide spread positive attention of hipsters who dont shut up about the game they like, but then I found out that it hadnt even been put on home consoles just yet, but soon. I just had assumed it was because the furries drew people away. Anyways, the Switch drones have no reason to not enjoy a game like this.
