You know that joke about strategy games upping the difficulty level by giving ridiculous odds against players so that AI spearmen beat up player tanks, because increasing the difficulty with smarter AI is too much work?
Well, that's basically the Qbeh-1 approach to puzzle gaming.
The game obviously takes its cues from Portal series, but for some unfathomable reason decides to copy the worst aspects of the game and make them worse. Or possibly it's a case of developers having a bright idea for a flavour and then growing so enamored by that idea they let it ruin the game: namely having the levels be these ruins made of cubes floating high in the air. In practice what I managed to see of the game, deciding to give up, were some pretty visuals, some mild puzzles with rather neat idea, and disastrous gameplay: already at the beginning it is very obvious what you are supposed to be doing but actually doing it requires you to perform several well-timed jumps froma narrow ledge to another, and if you fail on those, you fall to your death and have to start the level from the beginning. Again and again and again.
There is no save: otherwise I would have quick-saved after every successful jump and quick-loaded after every unsuccessful, and that would have sucked but would still have kep the game somewhat playable. Now it is simply a failure, a horrible game.
A smidgen of vitriol comes from disappointment that I actually see some promise here: someone should totally take the idea and create a real puzzle game out of that.
