About myself:
I collected vinyl from 1983 until 1996 ("used to own", under construction), then switched to CDs ("in catalog", under construction, includes the stuff I used to own on vinyl but now have on CD).
My taste is best summed up by the late JB's dialogue with the late Bobby Byrd:
"Whatcha gonna play now?" - "Bobby, I don't know, but whatsoever I play, it's got to be funky!"
Over time, that funky sound invented by JB & Co. has been merged with many other styles like Jazz, Rock, Soul, Blues, Afro, Latin, Bossa and spawned new genres like Disco, Boogie, Hip Hop, House and whatnot...all part of my musical universe.
Favorite music related sources besides RYM:
Wax Poetics is the #1 music magazine as far as I am concerned
Soul Strut has lots of reviews of old and new stuff
Soulwalking has information on many soul artists
