3 stars - the album was good but not particularly spectacular in any way.
2.5 stars - an average album neither good nor bad, hugs the line between what I enjoy and what I did not.
2 stars - the album was okay and a bit bellow average, it wasn't quite good but wasn't terrible either.
1.5 stars - I did not enjoy it and thought the album was bad.
1 stars - I especially didn't like it and though it was a very bad album.
0.5 stars - it was a terrible listen and a horrible album.
I try to give every album that I listen to a chance. This usually means multiple listens on several different occasions. For albums that I may find difficult at first I'll surely try again in a different setting due to music being very contextual at times. I never rate an album from memory or before I have finished listening to it in entirety.
Almost all of my ratings are rated based on how the album appeals to me personally on a level both sonically, and emotionally. There are a great deal of albums which I recognize to be important to their respective genres and music history that I simply do not enjoy as much and will not give them a high rating because of it.
Feel free to send me album recommendations and I will surely give it a listen. I'm open to any genre or style of music and am always willing to learn and listen to more.
