I've an eclectic music taste. I feel that I can say that confidently, seeing as I can go from ska to rock to jazz to post rock to indie to chiptune without missing a beat (pun TOTALLY intended). I've been expanding my taste a ton lately, so recommendations are always welcome. I don't have a great deal of experience reviewing, so I'll be working on that.

Ratings explained:

5.0 - A once-in-a-lifetime album. Like most other users, I don't give out a rating this high often. If I do, it's an album that will or has become a fixture of my music library because it exemplifies something to me - the style, the genre, the artist, or what have you - and does it in a fashion that makes me want to listen to the album over and over again.

4.5 - This is the typical "really good" album. It would nearly fall into the 5.0 category but has some slight problem with it in my eyes; nothing totally off-putting, but enough that I can't fall in love with it to the degree I would with a higher-rated album.

4.0/3.5/3.0 - A very solid album. Hard to define this range; there is typically some obvious part of the piece that I don't like, but I still like it enough to listen and will probably be willing to listen if I shuffle to it later, but I won't go out of my way to make sure I hear it all the time.

2.5 - Average exemplified. Genre-stereotypical, doesn't stray beyond the closely defined bounds of whatever category it falls under. Not bad, not good, just middle-of-the-road.

2.0/1.5 - Pretty bad. I don't tend to place albums at this end of the spectrum, but there are the occasions when there is something about an album that just completely strikes me the wrong way and I will quite possibly simply remove it from my library rather than have to worry about ever hearing it again. As I said, a rarity.

1.0 / 0.5 / 0.0 - I will probably never spend the time listening to an album bad enough to rate it this low. Instead I'll listen to maybe one song and then turn it off. My taste is broad enough and my patience good enough that I doubt I'll rate much of anything this low.
