Not sure I'll be doing a 2017 list this year, at least not in the scope of my 2016 list. Trying to go more deep than shallow and broad.

ooh now this looks like my ish. I'm basically looking for something that sounds like the sistine chapel choir mixed with SotLid, somethin that will send me off into super peaceful dreams when I'm going to bed at 11pm on a weeknight while super high.

Finally, finally listened to that Causa Sui set and dug it (have a copy on order from their label actually). They're not quite as satisfying as Colour Haze but certainly seem like very complementary acts

Insomnia's killing me, I'm having some distressing hearing issues, my closest friend is moving to another province, and another close friend is suddenly moving way up north, so summer's not off to a great start. But I hate summer anyway. Heat is not my friend. I don't really do festivals, both in terms of hordes of people and the time investment needed it never seems quite feasible, although I'm always tempted to do one of the local ones (which don't involve camping at a location). Yourself?

Thanks for your kind comment. : )

My current profile picture features my cat, Ozzy. Somehow he ended up taking that photo himself when he stepped on my phone while it was still in the camera feature. It ended up being one of his best photos ever.

Yeah, depression is tough, but music is always a consolation to some extent. I did a podcast on it a couple weeks ago actually (I've been recording casts for a couple months but they're going to actually start going up this week). Insomnia's rough, but I've been living with it since I was a kid so it only really drags me down at times like this when it gets particularly severe.

And yeah, the whole crowds thing is tough. I like to see shows whenever possible but I really like the smaller shows best, and they do tend to be the most memorable experiences (like Jandek in a little upstairs dance studio next to a gay bar, or Run the Jewels in a tiny bar overlooking the harbour on their first tour, or Mt Eerie in someone's basement), although seeing Nine Inch Nails in a big arena show on the Year Zero tour was pretty awesome admittedly. I haven't seen many shows this year because my favourite record store doesn't sell tickets anymore so I don't see the listings all that often, makes it easy to miss them.

Anyway, thanks for the kind words, hope your summer is going to be lots of good times. I'd totally do an African music festival if there was one around here, that's a genre of music I really need to see more of live. We used to have a FolkFest summer event here where I saw part of a Ladysmith Black Mambazo show but the fest got canceled because of some bad crowd craziness after a k-Os show (I was there but in a little harbour barge seeing Long Winters and Aqueduct).
