i've also read kafka on the shore & the wind-up bird chronicle. loved em both, especially the former. thankfully i knew going in to kafka (i'd read norwegian wood first) that nw was something of an anomaly in his catalogue, so it wasn't much of a shock to the system. as far as murakami goes i'm probably going to read 1q84 next which i've heard very mixed things on but am willing to give it a go. read the first chapter of one hundred years of solitude last night and really enjoyed it but i'm like 20 pages in so i'm not making any judgments yet. will certainly keep you posted

I've had his love in the time of cholera laying around for like two years now. stole it from my dad's book collection. not planning to read it in the immediate future tbh, there's only so much magical realism one can read before the magic begins to bore. plus I'm reading Anna Karenina atm and unless I pick up my reading pace I may only end this in about two months time.

man, I used to love Bon Iver and even have his two previous albums on vinyl but he's just worn off terribly on me. I actually feel that the production of his albums is awful. just flat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHv1E04XW3Q this is the definite Bon Iver for me. I cannot for the life of me understand why he doesn't sing like that anymore, he probably doesn't feel that pain anymore and good on him seriously. but any of his studio stuff lacks the viscerality of that performance imo and this new album is just the opposite of that jools holland gig.

even for emma, forever ago does very little for me these days. I dunno what it is man, I just feel like I've found so many better things. there's not much of an emotional connection in my case anymore. also to put my score for the new album in perspective, I only really have 2 ratings that signify "worse than average" so y'know.

m8 you can't just give tired sounds of the stars of the lid 1.5* I'm pretty sure that's against the rules, think about the rym cred man.

m9 your face is far too stretched out for what it is. but seriously though I think it's something you're either into or not at all. took me a shitload of listens to entirely get into it.

I do get what you're saying, though tired sounds is basically my go to ambient album these days. is a winged victory even considered ambient? regardless I think tired sounds has the perfect title and is something that might connect best when you're feeling entirely hollow.

I feel you, man. I've been in a bit of a lull myself lately and the semester ain't even halfway for me. I've finished a short story and obsessed over it while writing and found an incredible amount of satisfaction during the process and now I'm just left feeling a bit empty having to work for uni.
