A couple of words about my rating system:
10/10: Words can't describe my love for this album. It has changed my musical world completely.
9/10: Wow, this is totally fantastic! Words still can't describe my love for this album, it has taken over some time of my life.
8/10: It's just GREAT! 8/10 mark reserves an album a place among my favourite CD's ever.
7/10: A really solid album. It doesn't provide those great feelings, but it's a pleasant listen. Worth digging it. Not every band can release a 7/10 album, for some of them such an album is a highlight of their entire discography. Still a common result for extraordinary bands.
6/10: That's listenable. Possibly I won't revisit it ever again, but the experience was generally nice.
5/10: There are two types of 5/10 albums: I can feel just nothing towards the album and mark is 2,5 stars, or I can feel many different things, and mark it the same, because advantages and disadvantages are balanced within this album.
4/10: It's a mediocre album. Not a disaster yet, it still could be worse, but it's definitely not a thing I'm interested in.
3/10: Could it be any worse? No, definitely not. But shit happens sometimes, we must learn to forgive and forget.
2/10: Well, generally I don't forgive those who made me resist my vomiting reflex, they make me angry. This is terrible. Extremely terrible. So terrible I want to kill those who made it.
1/10: I'm not even angry anymore. I'm deeply concerned and a bit of laughing. Well, ghosts, monsters and UFOs make me concerned and laughing too :D
I never rate albums according to their popularity and or historical significance. If I don't like the album, I won't rate it higher only because it's RYM #1 album of all time or because the album is considered genre-defining or ground-breaking. I might show a bit of bad taste with it, but who cares?
I can rate 70% of albums after the first listen, and the rating won't change after more listens. But I really like to re-rate the rest 30% of albums: they are generally more interesting and multi-layered. Anyway, I don't ever rate an album before I've listened to it at least 3 times.
I generally don't write reviews: English is not my mother tongue and it takes a lot of energy to use it. And grammar mistakes never made a review better :D
Any comments and PM's are highly appreciated.
2016 update: I always concentrated on listening to more new albums and expanding my musical horizons, but now I'm more into revisiting (and sometimes re-rating) my musical collection for a more in-depth listening experience.
