So the seventeen-syllable-king
Has inspired this risible thing
But to critique in verse
Can be rather a curse
So I intend to play fast and loose with the form on occasion


It is one of the limerick's quirks
To more aptly suit people than works
So yer man with the haiku
Does better than I do
And fine, I'll unpublish, you jerks


Some anonymous feedback's been blunt
Limericks don't seem to be what folk want
My brand of concision's
Been met with derision
If 'twas you, you're an absolute fan of madmanmunt


You said I didn't rhyme when I did
You did not choose the brogue as you should
If that's too much to bear
Get the fuck out of here

This is life on the limericking grindstone:
Vacillate from Thesaurus to Rhymezone
Think of some stuff to write
And then wait up all night
For a favourite from some other time zone
