I try to work on appreciating music for various reasons, which is where my BTN rating thing came from, but as you said, at the end of the day it's all about how much i enjoy it, just for numerous reasons. And yes! Outkast is my #1, and thee group that got me into music, so that's an excellent point of reference for judging my tastes

Haha I see, well thank you! I'm usually a pretty high rater, but mainly because I just sort of know what I like and don't feel the need to be super critical all the time.

Someday is such a catchy song, I had to give it a 5, lol. Do you listen to Sugar Ray? I know they are a typical corny late 90s alternative/pop rock band, but I just can't help but find their music to be catchy and fun.

Definitely, I just like how laid-back their music is, makes them very easy to listen to. Although, I would love to hear your thoughts on their first two albums. Sugar Ray actually started off as a funk metal/punk band, but became more pop rock with their third album. Pretty interesting to see the band make such a big leap in sound, but I guess their pop rock material just sold more.

Haha same here, I don't really have the time to be analyze ever album I listen to. It's much easier just to take an artist for who they are and base your rating off of your enjoyment. Seems like some people on this site are rather critical when rating music.

Yeah, their earlier stuff is pretty different, it's almost kinda shocking. I'm actually kinda sad that they only have two albums that are funk metal (they even have a couple of punk and nu-metal tracks), since they had a fun sound with it.

True, I personally don't focus too much on negative reviews/opinions that other people have on this site. I'm usually more occupied with finding new bands by searching through the database. That being said, I do like to read negative reviews for albums that I don't like, haha.

So, what genres do you generally listen to? Judging by your favorite artists, you seem to be really into hip hop.

Hey! Glad to hear you enjoyed Sugar Ray's first two albums. I was honestly shocked when I saw the ratings for both Lemonade and Brownies and Floored on this site, since they're both fun alternative rock/metal/punk albums. I love how exciting the music on those albums were, while also being catchy and even funky at times. Mean Machine is my favorite song from Lemonade and Brownies, it was actually the first time I heard music from their earlier albums (since I heard Someday on the radio all the time as a kid, plus I knew about their song Words to Me since it was in the first Scooby Doo movie). I also liked Hold Your Eyes and Danzing, it was cool to see them include some funk tracks. I do think that Floored has a better flow to it (plus we both share the same favorite tracks from that album).

What did you think of the song "Fly?" It was the song that made me big and caused them to change to more laid back, pop rock.

Sorry for taking long to reply! Yeah, 14:59 is much more laid-back with a few bangers in between. Although, the more energetic tracks are less metal and more like pop punk. However, if "Fly" was your favorite song on Floored, I'm sure you'll really enjoy 14:59.
