I dunno. I do make a point of listening to more acclaimed records from the 60s/70s than the past 25 years, but that's honestly more in the sense that I expect to find a better critical consensus over what's good and what isn't, in addition to preferring the genres that were popular then to those that are now. When I actually have to judge the quality of said music, I think it's important to at least try to take all of them on their own terms now and not wait for the consensus to catch up.
Basically, I think that purposefully withholding your opinions for a long period of time is just deferring everything to the canon and not making any attempt to exercise your own critical judgment.
