Recommended Video - Wow, caught this the other night on Letterman!

Welcome to my little corner of the RYM world. Since you've taken the time to stop for a visit, for whatever the reason, I will do my best to share something interesting with you about myself.

I have always been into music, and started my collection with vinyl, initially because it was the most affordable format (other than 8-track tapes) available. I did own 8-tracks for my ride (anyone else own a Pioneer Super Tuner), but continued to buy vinyl. Eventually I was on my own and earning enough to start building a nice home audio system. As I began exploring new music, the vinyl collection started growing. About the time I started thinking about reel-to-reel, cassette tapes arrived. Vinyl was still my medium of choice. I thought of my LP's as the music archive, and would create my own mix tapes (a JVC 3 head deck). Then, as time went on and my rig became more high dollar, I gradually became more aware of the differences in audio quality between the different records that I was listening to. This is when I fell into the rabbit hole of audiophile grade vinyl. MFSL, UHQR, Nautilis, CBS Master Sound, Mercury Living Presence, Direct to Disc recordings, 1st pressings, and the mysterious world of "The people that can decipher Dead Wax".

This is around the same time that the compact disc arrived. I must admit that I have a love / hate relationship with digital music.
At one time I had a fairly large CD collection. The convenience and portability were of course the primary reasons I initially jumped on the band wagon. I've dabbled with the SACD and DVD-A formats. Unfortunately, we were burgled (they left the LP's behind) and I never have rebuilt the CD collection in its entirety. These days I am more inclined to download new music. If I find something that I really enjoy, I will subsequently acquire the LP.

There has been much talk lately about the quality of sound one experiences when listening to vinyl. For those of you that have been collecting and listening to vinyl for years, you already know all the reasons why vinyl has been enjoying a resurgence in popularity. I Love to dig through crates of old, unusual records. I have discovered many previously unknown treasures doing so. If this is all new to you, and you have any questions or comments, drop me a line.

I listen to all types of music and enjoy a wide range of genres. If you know of something that you feel is worth recommending, it would be appreciated.
