I've been fine, life has just been really busy as of late. Tons of work to do with school and my bands. It's ok, though, I like to keep myself busy. And how's everything for you?
Yes I am, though high school would probably be a more fitting term since upper secondary education probably means the big picture (so high school and vocational school). Either way, it's pretty heavy at times but I enjoy school even so.
Yeah, from my smallish experience of working it can really be tough, especially if you're doing stuff you don't enjoy. Hiking in Michaux State Forest sounds quite relaxing, though, I personally love forests (especially when it's clean and silent). I mean, sometimes you just want to be by yourself and walk in a forest, you know?
Well, right now I play in three bands, though one of them is kind of an on-off project right now; it's my most long-lived band but we all have our other projects that we'd rather focus on. I have no idea how to classify our music, kind of modern melodeath with some technical vibes. Not the kind of music that I personally enjoy but hey, they're fun guys and it's fun to play.
Then my second project is a Mental Funeral-era Autopsy-inspired death metal band where I play bass and am the vocalist; it's kind of a side project at the moment, though, but I really enjoy it. We only formed this autumn but we're in no hurry right now. We'll try to record a demo early next year, though.
My third band, and right now my main focus, is a black metal band where I'm the guitarist. It's also quite a new band and to be honest, we're not even quite sure what we're going to sound just yet. The material we've written varies from DSBM to more first wave-influenced stuff to black/doom. But I think our sound is going to be kind of 90s black metal with depressive atmosphere. I love writing black metal since you get to play with different kind of chords etc.
Well, yeah, that's a thing that sucks. I mean, I don't have too much of experience of work and the brief times I've worked somewhere at least my superiors and co-workers were nice. All right, that sounds like a nice career choice for you, as it seems that you like doing that stuff. I'm thinking of becoming an English teacher in high school since I have a relatively strong English (even though I do make some stupid grammar mistakes etc. from time to time) and I've always thought that teacher's job would be nice. You won't get bored in school since it's a social work and you have good vacations, heh.
Yeah, please do send those pictures. Sounds like a pretty tough hike but you know, it's a part of it. I've been hiking in Lapland with my grandfather a few times (in summer, obviously). It's really nice there, especially since we also fished a lot there (and got some really good fish, like Arctic Char that's my favorite).
Yeah, I will. We've actually recorded some stuff with one of my bands, though I don't think you'd be too much into it (I mean, I don't like our stuff too much either, it's just nice to play with those guys). https://soundcloud.com/samitenkanen/sets/nation-in-despair You can listen to it here just in case if you want to. And yeah, finding other people for a band is probably the hardest part, I mean, for a long while I was without a band. In the last year and a half or so I've gotten pretty good connections, though, so nowadays it's easier to find people. But I mean composing stuff by yourself is also nice, I've written a ton of stuff just for my own fun. For me the best part is playing live, though. And yeah, do tell me if you record some stuff!
