Have you changed your opinion since then? I personally say that the vocals in extreme metal are like an instrument.
I honestly can't say that my opinion has changed. I'm just not a fan of the vocals. Of course the vocals are like an instrument, but it's just one that i'm not fond of. To me Black metal vocals sound one way and Death metal vocals sound one way. I can't really tell the difference from one band's vocals to the next, but that's just me.
To be fair though, I have been really critical of certain things in the past that I ended up doing a complete 180 on and they ultimately became some of my favorite things musically. We'll see.
