My rating system is completely unscientific. I look first at whether I enjoy the recording--that can be on a logical or emotional basis, or a mix of both. I look at other factors--as I'm sure you do too. If I rate something < 3, then there might be a few cuts worthwhile, but don't go out of your way on my account. Some popular acclaim 5 star recordings might be rated lower on my list--probably just means I haven't heard it in a while & if & when I hear it again, I'll adjust the rating. But if it's your 5 star fave and I give it a 3, it means I probably haven't heard it in years--and I assume there's a reason for that.
