My earliest musical memories were listening to a boy band called the Beatles circa 1963, then by 1969 I was introduced to albums like Wheels of Fire and Disraeli Gears by Cream and a band called Led Zeppelin had appeared on the scene and many at my school were playing LZ 11 and around this time I heard After the Goldrush by Neil Young although at first it took a while to appreciate how great a musician he was... I can recall hearing music by Bob Dylan, the Beatles, the Byrds, John Mayall, T Rex, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, Mountain, Fairport Convention, Jefferson Airplane, Pink Floyd, Soft Machine, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Curved Air were quite big at that time and the first band I actually saw play live followed by Free, then in early 1973 I saw Led Zeppelin for the first time followed later that year by Chuck Berry and Neil Young on his Tonight's the Night tour supported by the Eagles. Looking back it isn't too surprising that by 1973 I was hooked on rock music....
