i mean the guitars are great, and the drums and bass do their own thing more or less discretly. The vocals are divisive for me, i mean the guy has a great range and power no doubt, but the evil monkey stuff sounds silly most of the time

As for "Cosmic Hallelujah," I was incredibly impressed by it overall - debatably my favorite country album of the year (though I admittedly haven't listened to a ton). Kenny's sound so more novel, more refined, with touches of middle-age wisdom that don't come off as pandering. "Noise" is a great thesis for the album, assisted by "Rich & Miserable" and even "Trip Around the Sun." He sounds more appreciative of his life, while lamenting the current state of the world that surrounds it and his personal life, as well.
Haha, well, about 200 5-star ratings out of about 4,200...I would say that's a fine ratio when it comes to singles, especially since I don't vigorously rate songs I don't like. ;)
