My rating strategy for Music:

5: Super
4.5: great
4: really good
3.5: good
3: quite good
2.5: almost good
2: not good
1.5: really not good
1: terrible
0.5: Radiohead, Coldplay, The Verve, Travis, Keane, etcetera.

When rating (pop-) singles my rating is usually based on the a-side (or track 1 for a cd-single), unless the b-side is an improvement on the a-side.
Rating tracks are mainly relatively based, as compared to the other songs on the same release.
