I don't mind at all, I appreciate being recommended stuff (even if I end up not liking the album too much - then again, I do feel as if I don't have enough negative ratings so maybe being recommended bad albums is actually a good thing).

also, I just heard that Jeff Hanneman died. Today seems like it's going to be a :( day.

they've had several live replacements since he first got that flesh-eating spider disease or whatever it was, wouldn't be surprised if one of them replaced him. I'd rather they break up, though; they've sucked for a while, and now that their main ideas guy is gone there's not much point continuing except, like you say, for the $$.

I've had a bunch of ideas for reviews (like, actual serious ones) sitting around for a while now, but I haven't been inspired enough to finish them / make them vaguely coherent.

I generally find positive reviews harder to write due to that feeling-like-an-advert thing; I guess advertising the product is the entire point of a positive review, but too much blatant advert-ness can make the writing quality suffer. At least with negative reviews you don't need to worry about whether you're "selling" the album or not, although writing good negative reviews can be pretty challenging for different reasons.
