The big thing with the rym box set is think of them as chronological mixtapes. They fit either 1 or 2 cd's worth, they go chronological and will highlight the best artists / albums/ tracks of the genre. and you just show how the genre has evolved over time and who were important within it.

Curious as to why you might 'hate' mood descriptors? Is there something else you expect from descriptors? (no snark, just curious).

Yeah I get that but personally I don't think it's much different than the fights/battles around genre. Having been the one to finance the descriptor feature I don't think I've ever expected it to be much more than an additional bit of chart fun. Consensus is tricky, democracy can often end in disaster and the genre/descriptor pages here are no different. But *most* of the time I believe we get genres right and *most* of the time we'll get descriptors about right. My only concern lately is some voters have been voting down objective descriptors like 'male vocals' and also 'epic' because no one has read the description of it. But it's just an early start and once charts are available it'll make a lot more sense.

I've always thought a future feature that would be nice would be a way to search user tags, so that a song could say '56 users tagged this happy, 34 sad, 15 melancholy, 10 classic rock' but I doubt that would ever be implemented because it would take away from the official voting.
