“Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence.”
― C.S. Lewis
I love listening to great music and watching great films. Luckily, there's plenty of both out there. I use this site to log what I've seen and heard, and to expose myself to what I haven't seen or heard yet.
My rating of something is a mix of how much I enjoy it and how good I think it is. To me, these are two different things. I believe in giving something at least a 3/5 if I think it's fundamentally well-made, even if my personal enjoyment of it may warrant a different rating. That said, just because I give two different albums or films the same rating doesn't mean I gave them that rating for the same reasons, or think that are in some way totally equal to one another. I try to approach each rating with some level of individuality. Also, I in no way claim that my ratings are 100% objective. To me, trying to be completely objective defeats the purpose of a website that allows for multiple people to rate something in the first place. No single person's opinion or rating of a work of art is objective or free from personal bias. Claiming to be the exception to this is simply lying to yourself. I have my own tastes, preferences and biases. You have yours. And that's fine.
Fuck elitism and pessimism.

Might be? Psh. No way in hell Duncekirk is keeping me in the theater. Film is at such a low in so many weird ways and the people demand blood. Until the Chinese aclamate to most American media colloquialisms there's no way they'll stop the production of dairy freeze movies. This is the kick in the head Hollywood needed. We need a Neo-New Hollywood movement and actions/thrillers seem to be taking it back.
