Hi. My name's Rashomon. And I'm white.
I live in a predominantly white neighborhood.
I went to a predominantly white college.
And I have predominantly all white friends.
But at night, while all my white friends are asleep, I bump this!!!
It was a 3 first time I saw it. I really just don't appreciate that movie. I like it well enough now, and didn't find it nearly as boring as the first time, but it still kind of feels like a whole lot of nothing to me. Oh well.
I really like your Winter Light review and the list I subsequently found of Bergman here. The Dylan list is choice too (and ballsy--no "Like A Rolling Stone" lyrics?)
So I'm scared to ruin the experience for me, but is The Revenant like really overwhelmingly intense, or is it pretty slow? I'm 100% satisfied with either, but I can't tell from the trailer whether or not it's going to be like a thrill-a-minute piece of immersion, or something really atmospheric and haunting that's only sometimes punctuated with violence.
