hey my name's Noah, let's be pals

fuck you RYM for turning the simple pleasure of music into pokemon

i don't rate singles unless they have non-album material on them, otherwise i think it's just an excuse to pointlessly boost your rating numbers. if you want to see my rating for a specific song, check my track ratings.

i rate things based solely off how much i enjoy them (meaning objectively). if you don't like that then go bother someone else

i have a hearing loss of over 6.0 decibels (been years since i got tested). ill take my rockist badge please

i am probably going to remove my film ratings as i now use criticker and maintaining both is a waste of time. update: actually i still rate stuff but only to remove it off the film charts when looking for things to watch. i don't maintain or update anything here past that

god damn it (◕‿◕✿)

IMPORTANT EDIT: i'm gradually shifting my ratings towards a bell curve. not much of a point in rating on some "general expectation", since i'm usually seeking out music i like and the stuff i don't connect with isn't represented. the lower numbers are becoming underused and the larger ones are losing weight. so in other words, i'm now rating stuff based on how i like them among my general collection and in a sense how eager i am to return to them. i'm not gonna spend my time changing all my old ratings at once though. just don't take it as me hating everything, i promise i don't.

Your post on my thread about "Edith And The Kingpin" is now part of the list. Shame it's just a dodgy looking blue link to my reply.

Would you say you're a bigger fan of "Daydream Nation" or "Goo"?

"Daydream Nation" is easily in my top 15 of all time. While I've heard tracks from "Goo," I have not yet listened to it in its entirety. I plan on doing that very, very soon.

I guess the reason I put off "Goo" for so long was because the record has more of a spotless sound than their '80s material. Normally, I like a like little more dirt thrown into the mix, but I own a copy of "Dirty" and love that album so there was really no reason for me not to check out "Goo" at this point. With that said, the songs are really damn good. I wouldn't say they're consistently as anthemic as those on "Daydream Nation," but they definitely still convey the same kind of youthful angst and rebellion as their '80s output. "Dirty Boots" is still a fave, "Mary-Christ" has that sick guitar riff and some cool vocal trade-offs between Moore and Gordon, "Mote" is a torrential Lee track à la "Rain King," and "Disappearer" is one of the catchiest and most dramatic on the entire record. Loved it!
