K:SI is really weird for me. I like SLJ, Reilly, and Goodman as far as characters go because they really look like they're having fun, a lot of their parts feel like Jurassic Park to me. But as much as I do like Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson, I don't get why they're characters even are there other than male/female lead thinking. But their characters are awful and I just wanted the monsters to eat them alive so we could enjoy the lunacy of SLJ versus King Kong. You know what I mean?
But I've been rewatching BVS (UE) lately and when I saw Larry Fong in the credits I knew I was in for at least one of the great SPECTACLES of the year. And it does have some of the best digital compositions and imagery I've seen in years, no lie. I just wish it didn't have it's two leads in it at all, and let characters like Reilly and SLJ stand out in this craziness.
It's horror scenes are genuinely amazing though as are it's monsters and boss fights.
However, even as much as I love Aliens, and oh I ever fucking do, this is Ridley Scott making an alien film that he believes should be a proper sequel. And he is authoritarian and his version of it, because to be frank the best filmmakers are the most selfish Ones. David is like a proxy character for ridley Scott, as David this fucking around with the alien DNA, so is Ridley Scott fucking with audiences and fans too. Cinema is the most manipulative art form, Ridley Scott has rarely better understood this in just one film.
I should also say I like Hbomber as a political commentator and I thought his review of Sherlock was pretty good. I just thought he was kind of vicious to Mathew in his DS2 video, on top of already disagreeing with him about the game. I think he got used to hating on near universally disliked people like Davis Aurini and that worked into his "commentaries" on non-political things. I guess you can't agree with someone on everything.
