Game collection
At one time or another, I’ve been a bureaucrat, bassist, photographer, writer, bus driver, revenuer, usher, drummer, secretary, librarian’s assistant, disk jockey, book scout, movie projectionist, cemetery researcher, roadie, book dealer, yard-saler, jackleg home DIYer . . . . I’ve a degree in English and a huge miscellany of information on a preposterous number of subjects with which I come out at random, to the astonishment and occasional edification of my acquaintance. I enjoy being mildly eccentric and curmudgeonly, I love traditional and Celtic music, and am a storyteller by disposition.
A lot of the recent additions to my collection have been vintage square-dance music. I spent fifteen years as a square dancer, and my parents and grandparents were dancers and callers. I'm interested in the stylistic changes that happened between 1940, which is roughly when the modern revival of square dance began, and 1970, when Callerlab began to codify the moves into the form dancers know today.
