I have been listening to primarily hip-hop since I was a teenager in mid-80's. Since I've grown up with this music, I probably like it more than others who are just discovering it for the first time.

About a month or so ago I decided I was going to go through my collection and get it organized. I was going to listen to everything again, re-rate it, update the album art, fix the metadata as well as making sure everything coincides with the information in my database.


Today (9/29/11) I decided I am going to take my project to the next level. I was just simply going to go through my collection and get it all re-rated and cataloged but some of you have inspired me.

Now on top of going through my collection (~1000 albums), I'm also going to check out the yearly charts and peruse for albums that should have been in my collection and get those listened to and rated as well. From the late 80's on, I know there are some really stand out groups that I never got added to my collection. Since I'm going through year by year, now seems like the best time to get them added.

So I just took a large project and made it humongous. But as some of you are enjoying some old school for the first time, I guess I'm going to find some as well.
