I've a much larger music collection than my current additions to this list would indicate. Perhaps in a few years I'll have them all on here. A bunch more films too.
Thanks for telling me about you being at that concert 38 years ago. I don't really remember anything about the show other than me being very excited to see my new favorite band at the time - Queen. The ticket only says Mott The Hoople on it. Your message prompted me to remember that I had saved a review of the show that I had cut out of the Denver Post. I typed the whole review on my Bands/Artists/Famous Type People I've seen live and/or in person list under the Mott the Hoople entry. Please take a look, it's a pretty good time-capsule type of thing. It actually even mentions Tombstone being there. I thought it was funny that the guy wrote how he thought Queen didn't show any promise.
INCREDIBLE! Thankyou for posting that! I'm a MTH fanatic and while I remember Ian Hunter's voice being pretty ragged, I was blown away simply from being in the same room with them...same with Queen. The sheer stage presence of frontmen like Hunter and Mercury make up for any technical or musical lows- that and great songs of course.
The review mentions Mick Ronson as a MTH band member. This can't be right as Ronson didn't join the band until later when they sacked Ariel Bender for being a dud in the studio.
I guess I don't remember Tombstone. The review did say "brief appearance" (I was probably in the bathroom smoking something).
Sorry to be such a pest, but you have no recollection of them? The reason I keep asking is because although there is PRINTED evidence of the band's presence I've never heard any eyewitness or anecdotal evidence of the fact.
As much as the reviewer was complimentary to Mott, he simply didn't know what he talking about when it came to Queen. I remember Rolling Stone giving a similar review to the band's first album. Clueless idiots!
That Denver Post clipping is priceless in my estimation. Would you be open to scanning and posting it? I know many MTH fans would love to see the real item.
I have been trying for years to find out more about this concert...you've filled in many blanks...Thankyou!
Howzit Ivor, We have been at some of the same Denver area concerts. Like Alice Cooper & Suzi Quatro at the Denver Coliseum with Suzi opening to the "Bitch Is Back" and Vincent Price introducing Alice. I was at the Stones 1978 Boulder show when Kansas and Eddie Money opened. I will keep checking your list and bet I find more. I worked for Berry Fey for awhile. Aloha, Bubba

It's still there - it's with the Mott The Hoople entry.
