About my username, ImGonnaDJ. I'm not actually a DJ, but I am a musician, and both musicians and DJs play music, no matter what kind of music it is; a lot of musicians also DJ at parties (for example, Paul Weller DJ'd at his friend's wedding party, if I'm not mistaken about the event). This username first came to life when I was coming up with a username for RYM. And I wanted something music-related and related to me. Rock'n'Roll Star (by Oasis) was a fine choice, but then I also wanted something not too specific; I didn't want just rock-music, though that genre is my favorite. And at some point, R.E.M.'s song I'm Gonna DJ came to mind (it had been written for the Around The Sun album, but released on Accelerate), and it came closest to what I had in mind, and was unique, too (uniqueness is not essential for me, but it helps in some ways). Tweaked it a bit and got ImGonnaDJ, which I also use on some other sites (so if you see it somewhere, it's likely me). As for my job, I'm one of the two assistants at a rehearsal base (studio where bands can practice) :) .

Now, a bit about my album rating system:
first things first - these are MY PERSONAL ratings. No offense, but I honestly don't care if you like them or not. We all have varied tastes and ways of appreciating anything. So I don't have to go with anybody's flow - I don't have hate pets in music (though Nicki Minaj is begging for having her as one :D ), nor am I exactly OBSESSED with any artist to the point of insanity. Look up my "Listening to" section - it says, "my söul" (stylized like a Motörhead title :D ).
Another thing - my ratings are NOT ALWAYS most accurate about how I feel about a release. Most of the times they are, but in time many things may change; usually the difference is 0.5 star.

DAYUM! part 1 AKA Shit's good!
5 - I love 90-100% (if several 4.0s, then 4,5);
4,5 - I love 70-80% (if several 4.0s, then 4.0);
4 - pretty good, I love 60%, the rest is fine;
3,5 - I love about 40-50%, the rest is okay;

Upper Middle Earth AKA Made it past the gate
3 - I love about 30-35%, the rest is just nice, or I love less than that or even nothing but think the release is pretty potential.

Lower Middle Earth AKA At the gate
2,5 - I love 20-25%
2 - 10%

DAYUM! part 2 AKA Shit ain't right!
1,5 - a track that I sort of like
1,0 - almost no moments of dignity
0,5 - not even worth this much

ALERT!!! Update my track ratings, and from then on 3,5s will count too! :D

There ARE few, very few times when I just don't feel an album to be in accordance with this system.

Of course, with singles it's a different story since you only get 1-2-3 different tracks on them and so you can't really view and then rate them as you do albums. And so while positive album ratings, starting with 3/5 stars, pretty much apply, it is the negative ones that are harsher on the singles. If I give a single 3 stars, it's pretty much my kind of throwaway already, whereas with albums it would mean that I love a nice portion on them.
5 stars - I'd cover this any time;
4.5 stars - any time, but often the B-side(s) drag the rating down a bit;
4 - I'd cover this occasionally;
3.5 - good, but I wouldn't cover;
3 - just okay;
0.5-2.5 - based on the level of dislike.

As for EPs... treatment based on gutter feelings... they are more like singles, though.

I also do exclusive ratings.

One of my favorite ways of listening to previously unheard music - take it to the streets, public transportation, in earphones (or headphones, but I prefer earphones). If music fits in any shape or form, it moves you and you're still paying attention, then it's yours. Or stream it online while doing something that does not require much attention - same possible results. And I also listen at home and at work, occasionally.

We (me and a schoolmate who filmed on my camera) were with the same band (known as In Time at the time) in a different rehearsal room. Because it was cheaper - and you know... we learned why it was. First sign - it was in the back of the house's basement. Okay, many bands started like that, it's kinda cool. There was a map of USSR on the wall. An odd item, but okay, I liked those maps in school so let it be :) Then... there was another microphone... hanging from the ceiling... and the note said: "it keeps a few things together so we must NOT tear it out"! XDDD Then our bassist, who was late, finally arrived. Plugged his instrument in (as if I wasn't half-deaf from the two guitar amps and the drumset too close to me already XD), the sound was off anyway. So he turned the amp around to see if there was another plug-in... and the thing was almost completely empty on the inside, missing the back panel XDDDDDD XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD We never went back XD

I'm a long-time supporter of Estonia's Centrist Party, which is left-of-the-center and is social-liberal (with emphasis on social). Curiously, it's our main oppositional party, but for years its been ruling the country's capital city of Tallinn; I mean, the battle between the majority of our government and the capital city has been going on for years now. The party's leader is Edgar Savisaar, to whom I try to show as much support as I can. I definitely hope that, like Heinz Valk said about our independence in the late 80s, "someday we shall win anyway". There's always a limit to any peoples' patience.

I have made a deal with the powers that be: I only eat flesh and plants that carry or had carried bad souls right before they got killed. Besides, while there are vegans, are there people who eat animal flesh to save plants? Touche.

You might think I'm crazy, but I have strong and well-developed phylosophical, political and religious beliefs. Don't worry, I'm not an extremist, nor do I think myself a universal truth; but I always try to think deep and observe from several angles and expect you to do the same. You're gonna have a hard time with me otherwise :D
