Please do not take me seriously all of time. JUST BECAUSE I SAY SOMETHING DOESN'T MEAN I THINK IT'S TRUE.
CDs= BOUGHT. Digital=NOT BOUGHT.
Genres I like: Metal in general (especially prog/avant), prog rock, avant-prog, rio, jazz, jazz-rock (etc), math rock stuff etc
Genres i like/currently kinda getting into: electronic, non-western folky stuff (world music, w/e the fuck you want to call it), industrial, noise, folk, harder variants of punk kind of
Genres not liked very much: PNK (well, this isn't really true; i at least don't not like it more times than not) , POP, COUNTRY (fuckoff), classic rock, rap, many things prior to like 1975 or so
For my ratings (rating: value assignment -- feeling most readily associated with) :
5: Absolute Masterpiece -- :| ("!")
4.5:Outstanding -- :O !!!
4:Very Good-Excellent -- :D !
3.5:Pretty Good-Very Good -- :) !
3:Decent-Goodish -- Meh.. :)?
2.5:Mediocre-baddish -- :( !
2:Bad. -- (:|
1.5:Poor -- >:|
1:Horrid -- >:C
.5:*shudders* -- xO !!!
Anything 3.5 and over I like substantially, anything 4 is potentially a masterpiece IMO.
As a rater I try to rate objectively with some subjectivity as well, and am always open to new information (as well as criticism!). My main fault is perhaps that I prefer to listen to individual tracks instead of whole albums at a time as I bore pretty easily (this is even the case for my most favorite artists!; In spite of this I try to see how the tracks connect to each other if they do at all before I rate). (On a more recent note, I have lately generally been listening to albums rather than just tracks.)
I usually don't rate stuff until I've heard it several times --until I grasp it holistically, let's say. Also note I do not rate often.
I'll make some lists sooner or later..
