• Recommendations and music discussions are welcome.
• Music I'm interested in: basically anything that catches my interest, be it rock, hip hop or whatever. This interest is usually based on my current mood.
• Some things I take, not systematically, into account when choosing my listenings are: production, I tend to reject music that sounds too sharp, namely songs with high pitched instruments, excessively strained drums, or anything that eventually gives me a headache. This would be an example of my preference as to music production; duration, I don't usually listen to albums that go on for too long, unless they are compilations, live albums or highly rated albums. This way, I can assure to a certain point that I'm not finding albums full of fillers; cover artwork, may sound strange but there have been times when the cover has made me feel more than the music itself, so yes, it's important; the present time of the year, I can't just listen to a sunshine pop album on a cold winter day, or a black metal album on a sunny summer day; the amount of albums released in a certain period of time, I often distrust artists who release too many albums in short periods of time since most good albums require a lot of time to be composed and recorded. Ambient musicians are an exception though.
Things I don't take into account: lyrics, although I believe in the power of good lyrics, I would never refuse an album because of them, I just find them a secondary aspect; negative reputation, my approach to a new album will always be objective, it's stupid to start listening to something with the preconception of not going to like it, it's like fooling oneself. Shred albums, for example, get lots of opinions based on this mindset; if it sounds dated, if a composition sounds dated it means that it reflects correctly the time it was written in, for me this makes it interesting.
