About me, music connoisseur.
Oh what unforgettable feeling to listen to the voice of Heino, coming out of my brand new Universum cassette player (Christmas 1977). Although I believe everybody should own at least one (old!) Heino album for nightly drunken hours, this notorious German bard surely can not give all what a music-infected kid needs. I was lucky to hear some guitar sound by Status Quo, Sweet ('Love is like oxygen') and Dr. Feelgood ('Milk and alcohol') in the radio-'Hitparade', presented by Mal Sondock. At that time there was some Disco stuff like Supermax in the car of my uncle ('World of today'), a lot of Abba and some floating synthesizer sounds by Jean Michel Jarre ('Equinoxe' – my first LP). AC/DC's 'Highway to hell' drove me back to the sound of the guitar, I asked for more. Friends showed me more... AC/DC, Van Halen, and -boah!- Motörhead! The 'Neue Deutsche Welle' featuring Trio, Extrabreit and Nichts was soon over, I bought every Jimi Hendrix album I could get my hands on. The 'Metal Hammer' magazine became my preferred reading, radio rock shows and Heavy Metal was more important than anything else. Do you remember the first time you heard Metallica? Man, was I impressed by 'The four horsemen'! I saw them at my first concert, together with Tank, in 1984. Containers full of confiscated studded belts at the entrance - wild! At the end of the 80s Metal became a bit boring, Manilla Road and Cirith Ungol could not be beaten. By the way, I always liked Anvil, they are straight. Grunge was invented, but that era didn't give me much except the Melvins, which I still like to see live, as well as Nomeansno. In the 90s you could buy a lot of cheap vinyl when all the record shops had to choose to close down or to fill their stores with CDs. A lot of people sold their LPs and bought CDs (today, people think downloading mp3 is the better format, but have nothing in their hands). Reggae, Dub, some funky horns, basic Electronica by Klaus Schulze, the usual suspects of 70s Blues and Rock...the desperate voice of Vic Chesnutt (R.I.P.)...I lost a bit direction until Stoner Rock brought me to Kyuss, Fu Manchu and Turbonegro. Oh these happy stoner years! Bongzilla, Cypress Hill, haha... Around 2000 I explored German bands like Tomte, Blumfeld, and the best, Tocotronic (buy their white album if you just want to have one German album of that time – knowledge of the German language is advantageous). Or take Flowerpornoes' 'Ich & Ich' with Chris Cacavas on guitar. A little Ambient, more and more Punk Rock and Garage ( Dead Moon!)... Not to forget The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and R.L. Burnside as he is (was...) the funniest Blues act..."Well well well". I'm searching for any new and interesting material that thrills me...RYM brings a lot older stuff to explore. At the moment, exceptional music on cheap vinyl in a good condition is my favourite choice...of any genre. Variety is my goal, there's the music to bring you in every mood (as Metal is good for any mood). That's what music is made for. And there must be some more out there...

3 musical light years later I obviously reached galaxy Post Minus. Stars are Post-Rock, Post-Punk and Post-Hardcore, next may be a materialization of Post-Sludge and Post-Atmospheric Sludge Metal, who knows. Although my core is still Metal, I esteem Kate Bush, Steely Dan and Scott Walker as well as down-to-earth rock by Cosmic Psychos. And please note: Crowbar - none heavier!

I continued my solitary journey and was attracted by more kinds of dark and athmospheric Sludge, Doom and Black Metal. Best discoveries: Tempel, Inquisition, Midnight and Winterfylleth, also Chelsea Wolfe.
