Nice. I have yet to check out a Neil Young album. I've only heard "Keep On Rockin' in the Free World" lol. And yea i'm really glad I got that debut, it's good stuff. Are you still skating?
I'm enjoying 'Feels', I liek how haflway through the album it takes a turn and becomes more drawn out and mellow vs. the faster poppy stuff in the first half. I'm still getting used to the vocals a bit though, because i'm only familiar with 'Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished' and the singing style is noticeably different, but it's not bad!
I agree with you about not being able to completely take them serious, but at the same time I think I need more silly/fun music to help me loosen up a bit about it (since i've always taken all my music very seriously). "Banshee Beat" grabbed me first, but "Purple Bottle" is really good too. And I actually have attempted to buy 'Sung Tongs' a few times now when going into the record store but if I can find it it's only on vinyl...and I would prefer to have it on CD. So last time I went to the record store I told myself if I didn't find 'Sung Tongs' I would just buy any pre-Merriwether album. So they had 'Feels' and I gave it a chance. But yea i'll definitely still get Sun Tongs especially since you brought it up now...I originally wanted to get it because of a friend of mines' review on here--unfortunately he took it down or else i'd share it with you.
3.5 is "Noteworthy" for me, that's good for sure! I'll keep listening to it though and then after I listen to other Eno stuff + similar music from around that time i'll be able to more accurately rate it.
So I've listened to 'Sung Tongs' about 5 times now and I'm a little let down. I thought I was going to like it more, but I actually prefer 'Feels'. The first half is solid but I think the second half is really subpar.
B) Yea you should...especially with Sonemic being launched in the next...coming year? lol. I'm not sure if you missed the whole IndieGoGo campaign about a year ago but they're totally revising RYM and launching a 3-part site (Music, Movies, and Games).
