Rube Goldberg puzzle
Genre
Rube Goldberg puzzles are a style of physics puzzle that rely on physics sandbox mechanics, where the player constructs Rube Goldberg machines or contraptions that involve a chain reaction to achieve an outcome. Typically, levels begin with a goal, such as pressing a button or cutting a string. The player is then provided with objects and utilities, such as balls, ramps, springs, electronics, wires, and more, to create a chain reaction and accomplish the goal. The genre began and was popularized by The Incredible Machine (1992) and its series of games; however, later games such as the spiritual successor Contraption Maker (2014) or the infamous Bad Rats: The Rats' Revenge (2009) have maintained interest in the style.
