Naval combat games involve naval vessels, both modern and old, that are piloted by the player and engage in combat.
Unlike naval combat simulation, games in this genre are less realistic and more often than not ships do not represent a real-life counterpart. And damage models are not entirely life-like. Combat takes place in a much smaller area. Ships have a much simpler arsenal of weapons and are easier to control. And are easily destroyed in favor of a faster style of gameplay.
