Microgame compilations are collections of games with seconds-long runtimes and varying genres often played in rapid succession. The process of playing each microgame and their resulting outcomes are considered the core gameplay of the minigame compilation game, as opposed to standalone compilations where each entry is considered to stand as a game on its own. One of the most recognizable examples of the genre is WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! [メイド イン ワリオ], which puts players through a gauntlet of microgames in an arcade-themed setting, constantly increasing the speed and difficulty of the microgames played as the player makes progress.
