Idol
Genre
Idol games prominently feature real or fictional Japanese pop idols. Idols have been a popular subject of Japanese games since the 1980s, including titles such as Wonder Momo [ワンダーモモ] and Idol Hakkenden [アイドル八犬伝]. The popularity of The iDOLM@STER [アイドルマスター] and Love Live! [ラブライブ!] franchises led a resurgence of interest in idol games in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Many idol games fall under the raising sim or rhythm genres, but the full scope of idol games is fairly diverse.
