Exploration

Games in which the primary goal is for players to view an environment or game world. Unlike the broader graphic adventure genre, exploration titles bring the act of navigating an environment to the forefront of a player's objectives and often eschew conventional gameplay elements such as puzzles, survival mechanics, and resource management. Branching narratives can be still be used however, just as they are in other adventure games. In some exploration games such as The Stanley Parable, exploring the branching narrative can even be the sole goal of the game itself.
