World of Warcraft: Cataclysm

I'm a defender of this expansion up until the last raid and LFR. The only old world change I think is bad was Thousand Needles, every other zone that was changed was changed for the better. It might have been better to wait to change things until a time when something like Classic could exist so people could see the old stories still, but I still think overall the world changes were good. Some of them like Tirisfal to Hillsbrad is the best collection of quests the game has mustered.

The real blemish this expansion brought though, was Worgen since it enabled furries to destroy the Alliance, just like that idiot Greymane destroyed his own homeland. More so than Pandas would an expansion later. Any friend of Greymane isn't a friend of mine.

this is the xpac i started playing WoW in, my first MMO, so it has a lot of sentimental value to me. worgens were introduced during this xpac and they are one of my favorite races to play. gilneas is also a cool zone, wish they'd revisit it and do it some justice beyond basically just being a starter zone for worgens.

there was a point where Deathwing flew around the overworld and you could be killed by him breathing fire on you. you got an achievement for dying this way, called [Stood in the Fire]. i remember when this event happened to me, i was stunned and excited at the same time. thought it was the coolest shit, going about my business when suddenly the sky turns red and dark and next thing i know i'm just dead on the floor.

the aesthetic of this xpac just really did it for me, right down to the login screen with Deathwing standing over Stormwind. speaking of Deathwing, he's still one of the coolest villains in the game for me.

all that being said, this was so long ago and i was brand new to the game. of course everything is gonna seem amazing to me. i can't remember much else about the xpac, so i gotta just rate this cautiously until i revisit the content.

At least they got the name right, was the cataclysm that destroyed the series
