Wonder Boy is an endless runner that really likes rushing you forward and jump over enemies and platforms before your energy runs out(which you can replenish with food). It was quick to take the fluid physics of Super Mario Bros, which is marvelous, if a tad too slippery. But the game is also way too long and offers levels that repeat structurally.
Also has a lovely HD remake!

Fun enough and pleasant graphics for the time, but there's nowhere near enough variety in the gameplay or identity to the levels for this to be very fun for me past like five or ten minutes.
Such an annoying game. It's got plenty of typical arcade/cheap platforming, but still manageable. The slippery movement doesn't help, either. Anyway, what really got me was the fact that you can't use continues on the last area (WHAT!). I used save states at the beginning of each section and pretended it was a precision platformer. Enjoyed it so much more. Fuck it.
