Technically, the soundtrack is just fine, and it features a great suite of instruments making for a decent entry-level journey into the artform, but Wii Music is embarrassingly shallow, completely ridiculous and offers no real challenge or skill assessment to speak of, and thus very little reason to keep playing past the first two hours. Rightfully got Nintendo laughed off the stage at E3 2008.

As bad as this game is (sometimes hilariously so), the base idea legit had some potential, it's just... I dunno, Nintendo bafflingly decided to do the opposite of what could've made any of this work and instead become memetic punching bags. They seem to do that every once in a while, have some idea with amazing potential and then not dig deep into that idea's sheer potential at all whatsoever because reasons.
Even as a kid I knew this game had the depth of a puddle. I've played shovelware titles on the Wii less shallow, definitely one of my least favourite Nintendo games
This game is not shallow, the potential of things to do in this game is literally limitless, the chance that you will make the exact same song twice is impossible. The main issue is that this game only works as a party game, but the only way to make it a fun party game is to play the incredibly boring solo player mode.
