I have no idea about anything Warhammer 40 000 related, meaning that the story really did nothing to me. I couldnt really understand the importance of the several factions which appeared in the game, nor could i relate to the wooden characters.
The level design is really repetitive as well, most of the time you will be going from A to B through big hallways and punch the occasional green button to open doors or activate elevators. There is a lot of reused assets, and there is very little memorable going on in the setting of the levels.
Despite its obvious flaws, the core gameplay is so great that it makes every other flaw in the game minor stuff. The game feels very similar to Gears of War, with a big sense of weight in the movement and shooting. The only main difference is that there is no cover, and the game is more focused around melee combat. The game is seriously impressive with the way that it manages to deliver huge number of on screen enemies and not stutter a single bit. There are few enemy types, but decimating waves and waves of enemies is seriously satisfying in this game, not because it is is particularly challenging, but because the combat feels so right. You can feel the punch in each shoot and jab, and thats really the strongest part about this game. This make the repetitive gameplay feel way more satisfying to play than in games like Dynasty Warriors.
I really wasnt expecting to enjoy it all that much, but this is definitly one game TPS fans shouldnt miss.
