I thought War Gods was a decent game based on the memories I have of playing multiplayer as a kid. How wrong I was. As a sort of prototype for Mortal Kombat 4, it is at least playable, with decent and responsive controls, but is a low-effort and barebones game--it seems to have only one game mode, no story and you can't even access the main menu from in-game. The characters are half-assed appropriations of various figures and both them and the arenas look as though they were invented by an eight-year-old in an afternoon. The graphics are ugly and glitchy, constantly warping to the extent that it looks like a PS1 game, the game is difficult even on Very Easy, and the AI is inconsistent and unpredictable, whilst the combos and fatalities are so difficult to pull off that they're not worth using.
