Don't let the admittedly jank warfare system distract you from the fact they've successfully streamlined managing an economy with dozens of moving parts. In terms of overall quality this is miles better than Imperator, while definitely being a step down compared to the deep systems in EU4, HOI4, CK, and Victoria 2. It is by no means a bad game though and will only improve with time
I think that the economy here just obliterates the one on vicky 2, and diplomacy is better just on account of getting rid of the sphering minigame which was hell on earth.
2 is still better because of so many years of modding and added flavor imo, but eventually this will surpass it greatly I believe.
Economy is less jank than vic2, I'll give you that. Still, this one feels a bit... simplistic? I know it isn't under the hood, but there was something arcane about vic2's system.

Yeah I agree, I expect Vic3 will eventually overtake Vic2, but for now I still play Vic2 and it's still the better game.
I always actually enjoyed the sphering minigame although it could've been a bit less easy to "game" the mechanics.
Really hope they change the war mechanics though. Not saying the traditional wargame mechanics in older Paradox games is perfect, but at least you feel involved. Here it just feels so unexciting and lacks tension and all buried under the hood that even if there's a lot going on, it just doesn't feel strategic or like you can affect much at all.
Rough launch, but it's developing very well. If they continue making improvements at this pace, it'll be undoubtedly the best economic simulator grand strategy ever released

v1.5 looks like a massive overhaul, definitely looks promising.
