Title
This is one of the last Sega genesis games to be released for the system, as such we have one of the most visually appealing sends offs to a great console in the form of this sequels to one of its best games in its library.

I have to say that gameplay wise I'm a bit disappointed here as it seems to lack a lot of the charm its predecessor had, I think this is because the levels are more repetitive this time around as there's several skating stages where our hero literally skates by each level with little push back to his journey. I also don't like the enemies as much given how we have organic viruses and insects rather than corrupt robots to deal with. That's not to say that the game ditches the core mechanics of its predecessor as the core elements that made that game are here and present for in this entry, rather it just feels like more of the same which does cost it a perfect score as innovation is a keyway to win me over in gaming. On the plus side, the game is still beautiful to look at even if the art direction has move away from the post-apocalyptic setting of the first game in favour of more natural environments such as jungles and volcanos. It also retains the tight controls from the original as well as expanding on the weapons arsenal offered to our hero. There's also voice acting in this game even if it's from Vectorman himself, it's a nice touch that adds personality to a game that was already brimming with it.

It's a solid game that's beautiful to look at and is a continuation of one of my favourite games of all time, it leaves me wanting more from the series which sadly I don't think we're going to get.

Title
Vectorman 2 is actually a slight improvement over the first game. Its not as annoying in its design or overly difficult, but it also is pretty poorly designed. 96 was basically the end of the Genesis' lifespan and Saturn had already been out for a year, so this is a bit of a relic of the past for its time. I mean I guess its kind of like how Persona 4 came out on PS2 2 years after the release of PS3, but games were developing so quick in those days its a bit surprising to see this. Vectorman 2 just has really bland and repetitive design. There are only like 3 or 4 types of levels, and the game only has 22 levels. A lot of the levels just feel like rehashes of other levels, I mean there are roller blade levels, tank levels, platforming levels, and boss levels. The bosses in this were a lot better designed and I'll give credit where credit is due, but really the fun wears off this game after the first 5 levels and really doesn't come back after that. It may be better than the first game, but the first game wasn't really good to begin with and this game is medicore at best and has long been forgotten outside its occasional rereleases in the obligatory Genesis collections that pop up every 5 years. I mean we'll probably see this game and its prequel pop up again on PS5 and whatever new Nintendo console after Swtich released in another rehashed collection of these same 50 or so Genesis games we see in essentially every other collection but with some sort of gimmick or basic feature, like this time you can enter a mode where you can fly around or play as the games final boss or something like that to justify rebuying the same games that have been around for 30 years again.
