A Goddamn Masterpiece

I loved every moment of this game, but I never got past around the 3/4th mark because I'm too intimidated by the timed aspect of it, and disabling it seems cheating because it's kinda the whole point of the game.

maybe I'm not used to metroidvanias but I feel like the level design for this game should be way more straightforward than the average metroidclone.

Reminds me of Alundra [アランドラ] and, more recently, CrossCode, in that it effortlessly cherry-picks mechanics from across video game history and still presents a refined experience. I didn't connect with the story much, but watching the game unfold was a very impressive juggling act. Speedrunning looks like a blast too!

That said, adjusting to a new movement upgrade every hour in combination with the ticking clock can get discouraging. If the phrase "time sensitive quest" stresses you out, just turn it off. I definitely wasted a day or two just wandering around when I should have tried the patented "use the item you just got in the room you're stuck in" method.

Amazing game. There is so much cool stuff like fishing and crafting that is not necessary at all, yet it doesn't feel bloated. Also the story is pretty damn interesting. I just wish the controls on consoles were less stupid.
