Nathan Drake comes out of retirement one last time, to go on a dangerous quest for Henry Avery's pirate treasure with his brother, Sam. But will he make it to the end of his epic journey?

Extraordinary storytelling, magnificent graphics, exciting and fun. However, the one true sin that keeps it from a perfect score is the absence of Doughnut Drake. Shame on you, Neil Druckman for pulling him out, shame on you!

I go back and forth with several different games like the amazing Red Dead Redemption 2 or even Naughty Dog’s own Last of Us 2, but I honestly think Uncharted 4 is the greatest game of the PS4/Xbox 1 generation. I didn’t like it at first and thought it was too slow and boring compared to past releases, but on further playthroughs I came to love everything about this game. I love the slow burn opening chapters, I love the downtime climbing and I always loved the Indiana Jonesesque combat as your ropeswinging everywhere. More than anything I think the story and characters are top tier Naughty Dog work. Its playfulness appeals to me more than the dour Last of Us series, so it speaks to me in that middle between serious storytelling a joyful gaming. I just enjoy being a treasure hunter in the world and no matter where I am in the game, I’m drawn in. It doesn’t hurt that it has the most awe inspiring sequence I’ve ever played in a game in chapter 11. Perhaps that’s when the game peaks, but the pirate story is able to draw you in in later chapters. This is not mention the graphics which still look better than current PS5 games. In all the pillars of what makes a game great to me, Uncharted 4 succeeds with flying colors.

a few thoughts + visually amazing. graphics, environments are beautiful. + parkour levels are so fun. + pirate theme is like goonies on steroids.
- main characters are pretty normcore with very basic romcom writing. - shooting segments can be annoying and repetitive - sometimes feel like the beautiful environments are wasted because they are strictly linear and there's not a lot of interaction. Would have appreciated more items, secrets, etc. that affect gameplay. - nitpick: sometimes the lighting in the dialogue scenes was like really fake looking like they always had light reflectors pointed at them no matter what, like a soap opera or something. - there are a lot of guns and its hard to tell which are better than others so i just went with whichever had the most ammo.

As a movie this is great, but as a game it's terrible the gameplay is horrible and all scripted, the combat? The worst game I've ever played in my life. in the end this is yet another overrated interactive movie from sony.

For every great shooting section, there is a complete time waster section. I mean when you realize the main story is ~15 hours, it makes sense that they would need to fill in some time, but most of this shit is just annoying. I get that we need climbing so that the character can get from point A to point B in a dynamic, exotic environment. Adding in something like the grappling hook can make something tedious like that a bit more exciting. But do I really need to blow up two doors with dynamite, then roll some stupid crate over to a ledge instead of you just making a few extra stones for me to climb on? I don't think anybody would have complained if this game was a few hours shorter and didn't have all of these tiny little things that make me roll my eyes. The only thing that could make me finish this game was the charisma of the actors. It's not even an original or well-written story.
still the cream of the crop when it comes to these roller coaster type games, pacing can be shaky at times but most studios still haven't caught up to this.
That chase setpiece might have been the best in the series if the driving controls weren't so shit. As it stands, Convoy from Uncharted 3 is my favorite.
