The life-changingly touching story of Tsukihime without both its past constraints of extremely limited finance and extremely limited software techs, with a much richer, more detailed drama and logical storylines, which means for a fan like me this is an absolutely unforgettable re-experience of my rich affection toward all about Tsukihime. Though personally I hold the opinion that the best of Tsukihime is still on its latter half, it doesn't change the fact that this is sufficiently satisfying.
I don't know where do all those complaints come from but I believe if you try not to dwell so stubbornly on your personal imaginations the characters here are all well depicted in their original forms that should not be deemed straying too far from the past in any way. Those are but needless fussings imo. If you want to complain about any unreasonable character setting or plot, you should blame the original Tsukihime since those are essentially written as before, not this reworked one which doesn't make anything worse by adding new while great storylines that fit in very well. True, Arcueid appears to be more yandere than before and Shiki becomes a bit more like Shiro, but the former is still to a reasonable extent considering her setting, which actually makes her behaviors making very much sense, and the latter is more or less related to a greater length of psycho description while the Shiro-like character itself is not unwelcomed at all for me. Actually that is a great source of empathy for many ppl. On the other hand, new Ciel route is just so so much better, definitely on the anticipated level.
If there's but anything falling short of expectation, it would be the music, which doesn't really match the quality last time they've achieved in Witch on the Holy Night. The remastered old soundtracks are good without doubt, while the others are generally just ordinary BGM without much worth crediting, but that's not a big deal. And actually I'm not THAT satisfied with the Ciel route true ending though I don't mean to spoil just convey my personal opinion. It is very epic and dramatic and a pleasure to read for sure but maybe the overall feeling too fantastical to the point that it becomes surreal, in terms of its low fantasy world settings, character settings, as well as the plot itself. But it's still working well as a true ending that leaves the readers satisfied so I'll take it, though personally I really have no complaint to endings that have big loss. They are truthfully real, not happy but true. So much about my reasons for ultimately not giving it a 5.
Looking forward to the Other Side of Red Garden, which theoretically shouldn't even be released as a seperate game that cost fans another few years of waiting, but what can you do? Anyway, I'll still buy into anything Kinoko san plan to write, I just believe he will never let us down.
