Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier

way better than I expected, besides the ridiculous tech issues for the first 2 hours. ghost recon series is fragmented as hell and the advanced warfighter series varies hugely from pc to console but this game reminds me a lot of the rainbow six vegas games. its a really fun coop shooter that needs a lot of close attention and planning , but never feels too frustrating or not fun. played for like 12 hours straight one day thats how much fun i had. weapon customization is top tier and level variation is awesome, so its easy to keep playing.

This one is a disappointment above anything else. They completly took the overly serious setting of Ghost Recon and completly CODified it for bigger mass appeal. I had played Advanced Warfighter previously and even though i dont like it all that much, at least it feels that they were trying to do their own thing with that one. In this one they just dumbed down the tactical elements to a minimum and then added huge amount of setpieces per level, some of which make no sense at all and even look rather silly. They brought in a lot of elements from other Tom Clancy's games, like the mark and shoot from the most recent splinter cells as well as the option to choose your own equipment to go in the campaign missions. These are nice touches but they ultimatly feel that they betray what the core of the series has always been about.

The story is completly forgettable super cereal militaristic warfare, basically whats to be expected of a Tom Clancy game. This time around some of these character actually do some say some funny things even if you cant relate all that much to them.

Gameplaywise its nothing above an average TPS. The game is at its best when you are playing stealthly. Otherwise the enemies seem to have eagle eye vision and will down you in seconds if you are out of cover. The weapons are moderatly accurate but they dont feel all that good to play with. They are missing something when it comes to their lackluster sound or impact. The missions themselves also take too long, and at times the way that they extend their time in a really forced way. They also throw all of these gadgets that you are forced to use in order to progress, which feel like gimmicks above everything else. And much in Ubisoft fashion, you can be on the last mission and you still get tutorial messages on how to reload...

Its far from a bad game, but its the blueprint of a souless game that certain studios churn out these days.
